Collected Poems. When the book of poems called Redemption of the Tiger was published by Jerry Neal in September of 2012 came the 182-page book of archaeological, Ancient Near Eastern, Semitic language and Biblical studies called The Ugaritic TextsMoreCollected Poems.

When the book of poems called Redemption of the Tiger was published by Jerry Neal in September of 2012 came the 182-page book of archaeological, Ancient Near Eastern, Semitic language and Biblical studies called The Ugaritic Texts and the Bible. 2011, Rob Bell, then pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville Michigan, author of the controversial book, Love Wins, predicted in a video, now up on YouTube, that it would be the first of many.

Rob Bell was right. In December 2011 came the poetry anthology From the Serpent Time. In April of 2012 came the 182-page book of archaeological, Ancient Near Eastern, Semitic language and Biblical studies called The Ugaritic Texts and the Bible, followed by two more anthologies, in November of 2012 Love Is a Garbage Heap: Poems of Love and Loneliness, and in December of 2012 Amen: The Religious Poems of Jerry Neal. Four more editions of Redemption of the Tiger followed in 2012 and 2013, and in May of 2013 Neal published three books simultaneously: an anthology called Naked Poetry: Poems of Emotion and Experience, the sixth edition of Redemption of the Tiger, and a volume of historical and Biblical studies entitled The Jewish Origins of Christianity and the Separation of Church and Synagogue.

The first edition of Redemption of the Tiger featured several poems using quotes in several foreign languages, including Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Ugaritic, Babylonian, Egyptian, Sumerian, Latin, French, German, and Italian. It also featured poems about the deaths of Jimi Hendrix and Osama Bin Laden, the first manned moon landing, the war in Iraq, Gadaffi and the war in Libya, the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, and a humorous poem about Jesus written as a computer program called Jesus Is a Killer App.

The new edition of Redemption of the Tiger features poems about the war in Syria, the assassination of J.F.K., poems about musicians Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Mike Bloomield, and several poems about Jewish themes and places in the time of Jesus, such as Nazareth, Bethlehem, Qumran (where the Dead Scrolls were found), Masada (where Jewish rebels against Rome made their last stand), and the Temple Mount, the Babylonian queen Semiramis, as well as Catal Huyuk in Turkey, the oldest city in the world, built 10,000 B.C.

But there are also plenty of poems of an intensely personal nature, including one about Neals mother Margie, who died in 2001, and even a humorous satirical poem dealing with theology about Neal himself, entitled Baal Nimrod.
